CAISSON is excited and extremely proud to introduce Green Bay, Wisconsin-based Team 1848 and its director and founder, Harry Boyce as a team partner. Team 1848 is the culmination of Boyce’s vision for a best-in-class basketball training system, facility, and grassroots program.
Himself a product of Green Bay East High School, Boyce through his Work Some More Training and Team 1848 has developed and showcased an abundance of outstanding local talent in a relatively short span.
In addition to his storied high school career, which featured two-time Defensive Player of the Year, two-time FRVC All-Conference Selection, FRVC Player of the Year, Northeast WI Player of the Year, Metro Player of the Year, and an All-Star Selection, Boyce brings to his endeavor a storied college career beginning at University of North Dakota where he was named Defensive Player of the Year, 3rd Team All-Conference, and lead the league with a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio, and finishing at Minnesota State where he was named to the All-Defensive and All-Conference teams. Boyce continued his career professionally with stints in China, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Egypt, and Germany. His professional accolades include Mexico Victoria LNBP Team Defender for the Correcamino Basquets while averaging 10ppg, and helping Telecom Baskets of Egypt reach the Final Four while averaging 18ppg and being named to the All-Import Team. Boyce highlighted his 9-year professional career winning the 2nd Bundesliga Championship with Schwelmer Baskets of Germany.
The beneficiaries of Harry Boyce’s vast experience and all levels are undoubtedly his players and pupils. Boyce’s knowledge of and passion for the game of basketball transcends the instructional standard. He has trained and developed hundreds of athletes into elite players, with many advancing to successful college careers of their own. These young men and women benefit not only from Boyce’s vast knowledge and experience but also the work ethic and commitment to excellence that Harry has lived by and displayed for decades.
Team 1848
Team 1848 Basketball is an organization designed to provide young men and women the opportunity to participate in the sport of basketball while gaining valuable life skills, which will help improve their quality of life.
“Team 1848 has helped my son develop both as a player on the court and as a young man off the court. Harry Boyce, the program director, is dedicated to making a positive impact for the youth of Northeast Wisconsin and brings awesome experience, passion, and expertise. Our experiences with the coaches in the program are that they mirror Harry’s dedication and commitment to player development and build winning teams. Specifically, Team 1848 has helped our son go from an inexperienced, timid player to a powerhouse on the court. If you are looking for an outstanding, grass roots, and growing AAU program that can compete both locally and nationally this is the program for you,” says parent Sara Wall.
Team 1848 is based on the principles of Hard Work and Love. The Team 1848 family has devoted its time and resources to create an organization of excellence that centers around the development and wellbeing of each student-athlete involved with the program. This mission is reflected in the actions of the Boyce family and the services of Team 1848.
Another parent Lisa Bynum says, “If you’re looking for a high quality program that offers personalized skill development, strength and conditioning, and prepares your athlete to compete at the highest levels, Team 1848 is the place! Our daughter has grown tremendously while part of the Team 1848 AAU Program. Through this program and under Harry’s direction, she has learned to work hard, play hard, and always strives to get better. Harry has the experience and expertise to help her correct her mistakes and teach her the next basketball move that takes her play to a higher level!”
Work Some More Training
The Work Some More philosophy insists that athletes not just love the game of basketball but develop the discipline and detailed skills needed to improve both as an individual and team player. Work Some More helps players build a strong basketball foundation with an emphasis on not just how to execute skills, but when to use these skills in game play, and to ultimately have an understanding of WHY their skills and game-time decisions make them the most effective basketball players. Above all else, players learn that to succeed in anything, they must continue to Work Some More.
“Nobody teaches basketball better than him. It’s amazing to be able to learn from someone who has been at an extremely high level for most of his life. There’s no other place, here in Wisconsin, you can get that kind of teaching”, says Notre Dame Academy junior Chris Mitchell.
Parent Ryan Carriveau adds, “Harry Boyce is one of the best basketball skills trainer in northeast Wisconsin. He has worked with my daughter for a couple of years now and improved her game so much. I would recommend him as a trainer and coach to any youth that wants to really get better at basketball.”
The Workshop
Boyce completed the Workshop, his more than 13,000 square feet, state-of-the-art basketball and athletic training facility in June of 2021. The new facility provides year-round training, one full- and two half-courts, a weight room, and players lounge.
The Workshop is a culmination of his dream as a little boy.
“My hope for this place is that for people who might not have that support group, that mother like I had, those people behind me, pushing me, saying ‘When you’re done with high school, you gotta get out of here,’ for those people who don’t have that, I hope to be that, my staff hopes to be that and I hope this place can be that for them,” Boyce said.
Green Bay East head coach Rick Rosinski says Harry always had the drive as a competitor and is now turning that drive into helping other young athletes succeed.
“Giving back to these kids and talking about life in general, because of the struggles that he faced early on,” Rosinski said. “That’s a tremendous trait to develop over time. I give him all the credit in the world for wanting to do this. The love of basketball, yeah, but also making young men into men.”
